Looking Back...

Can you look back at this semester, with all the classes you've had, and see the benefit of education? Can you put anything you've learned in the last 4 months into practice? Will it benefit you somehow in college or in future classes at high school?

Do you truly value the education that you are being given the opportunity to take part in? Be honest and explain why, or why not.

Remember, no last names. Just first name and last initial. Post by the end of teacher access on Wednesday, January 19, 2005.

I dont really value the education currently. I think that later I will be looking back at my high school education and really understand what all I gain. To me each level of school prepares you for the next level. That is all I see this as.
I see my math, creative writing, Health and Science as classes that teach me just enough to be ready to handle the next level. This is an interesting topic. I normally dont sit back and think about what im learning because it goes by so fast. All i ever look at is that I try my best to get a good grade, and how it will help me to get into college. I learn how to do all the formulas in math and science, how to write all kinds of poems.
You normally dont appreciate some things until they are gone. Maybe someday Ill have a kid who needs help with writing a sonnet or a limerick and Ill think back to my sophomore year of highschool in Mr. Baxters class.

I have realized, the value of my education is determined through the value of the teacher. Education can be addictive and I believe if there is a teacher who has knowledge of the way people work, philosophy, phycology, then there is a result in beneficial teaching methods. In my case atleast, that is what I need in order see the values. I notice (or maybe i am just being ignorant) that many people my age or oblivious to the true meanings of education. Some poeple have a 4.0 average but still are just in that position because they followed some zombie-type order to be accepeted into society. There are the others that focus on the social life that school provides. Wrong direction of the focus? Who is the person to determine that. If people are not open to the values of education they themselves will never see the importance of education. It is up to good teachers to show them educations true meaning. The few teachers that are out there.
