We're asked to revise because it's important to fix the mistakes that we make. Especailly when we might not realize that we made them. And once we fix them we might not make them again.

i think you are asked to revise anything and everything you edit so that you can read through your thoughts again and are able to learn and correct your mistakes which will make you a better writing.

We are asked to revise because it helped make our writing better. We go over it re reading it changeing things that either dont make sence or are to long. we get better writing skills out of it

I think you are supposed to revise anything you write because you want to make sure that its a good piece of writing and make sure that its perfect to you, or as close as you may be able to get it..

I think we are asked to revise and edit to make us better at it and make our writting better. I think it makes me a better writer and it requires me to learn more about writting... I believe that if i never edited or revised anything that i would never become a better writter. I think that doing this causes me to use the skills i have learned and perfect them for writting later on in life.

Melissa i think you are right we learn from mistakes that we have made

Kayla H

Well the reason we do that, is to fix our mistakes...and....uh....cause mr. baxter says we have to. lol uuhhh....by revising it, we end up with a better grade. cause even if you don't think you make mistakes, you do, like typing errors, and grammatical errors, and and spelling errors. so...yeah

Because there is always mistakes in your writing or things that you could change to sound better. When you revise it helps you understand the mistakes you made and make your writing better.
-Brenna C.

Anonymous said...

Because you might need to edit them so everyone could and would be able to understand them.....
I probably have no clue what you would get out of it maybe responsiblity maybe....how do do things the right way by yourself....

Jennifer T.

Well when theacher said to edit your paper it's becuase you got a lot of errors that you miss you when you typeing. Or they think that you can explain you secents better.

Kayla H,
I agree with you because I think the same thing about changing your mistakes and making sure you are writing correctly..

we are asked to revise everyting so we can fix all the spelling errors and make our papers better.

We get better at catching our mastakes and practice spelling.

In my opinion is that this assignment is used to get all the stuff we learned into our heads so we can use it later on. We revise it, we remember it.

There is a purpose in anything...

Taylor H... I agree that our peices need to be perfict to us but on the contrary we also need to be perfict to others. It will make it easier for them to read and will make the writting better all in all. For example. My writting my be perfict to me with errors because i am lazy or I like the style and the original is the way to go... but to others that just wont fly.

Kasey i think your right, it makes it so that we have to use our gramatic skills. i know i wouldnt learn anything if i never applied it.
-Melissa G.

Kayla I agree that it makes your writing skills improve.

melissa i din't think about the correcting mz mistakes bz the revising... Thats a good point!

We especially need to revise our assignments because the process of revision gives us the chance to reconsider what we're saying and maybe do it differently. We can reconsider our stand on the paper or add new evidence that can support our work. Revision is related to reconsidering. Also, if you spelled something wrong you have a chance to save your pride before you look like an ignorant peasant.

We revise thing because we all my mistake, and there is always room for improvements. This will help you be a better writer in the end.

Casey,
Yeah i get you on that.. I feel the same.. Haha.. Sometimes you just like the way you have written a story or some type of writing, so when others give you opinions, you may not always have to take their opinions..

True that... Mr. Baxter does have control of our grade so what he says goes... and if he wants revised stuff i guess we dont have much of a choice... well that and the fact that we will become better writters... oh and ya alot of times people do make little errors and dont notice and this helps catch those.
Kasey W

Lutz i agree that revising is a way to remember everything that we learned about writing.

*You are asked to revise everything that you write so that that particular piece of writing will become better then it was.It also enables you to expand on points that you feel need to be.
*It also helps you in perhaps realizing what common mistakes you make and use when writing so that in the future you will not make those mistakes.
-Michelle O.

Allen makes a good point when he says that revision gives us the chance not to make the same mistake again. No one wants to screw up once, then do the same exact thing again.
-J. Quebbeman

BBAXLHS said...

But...does going through something twice or more necessarily mean you will improve it?

Mr. B

I think we have to revise everything because that way we'll be able to learn from our mistakes so we won't do them over and over again. So...pretty much I think that's why.

I agree fully with you cause there are always changes i want to make to make things better when i read my own work...

crystal,
i agree with you...i also think that what were doing will one day help us in the end

Writing is something that can always improve. One of the sureist ways to improve any writing piece is to 'edit' it. This can include fixing grammical errors, or revising sentincing. Although it is good to edit your own work, I find that the best help will always come from another persons suggestions.
This whole editing process is needed. For the main reason of making it easy for the reader to understand, and hopefully take something significant away from whatever the piece of writing was talking about.

Personally i dont really understand what you mean by this mr. baxter, but i feel that it is important to go back and look through your material, so you have a better idea of what your next move is.

hey Jace, great point. it helps you make sure we got our points stated corrctly and that it expressed our views in the way we desired.
-Melissa G.

Kasey,
I agree completely with you when you say that revising makes you a better writer as a whole because you are then more aware of the kind of mistakes that you tend to make.
-Michelle O.

BBAXLHS said...

Demetria,
Most writers understand that you'll spend way more time in the revision process than in the initial writing. We should actually start to behave that way, so that we spend these Thursdays doing the bulk of perfecting our papers.

Mr. B

Molly Anne Martin--
I would have to say that i totally agree with what you are saying, and you totally made me understand what the question means.
Demetria T.

Anonymous said...

Mr. B... No sometimes we don't necessaraly make things better... shoot sometimes we make them worse... but by revising we have the oppertunity to make necessary changes to our work.
Kasey W

kayla i agree with you that we need to edit to get better writing skills and that we can always make our writing better.
-molly m.

i think its important to revise because when you write or type some thing your in a hurry and you dont realize that you made some mistakes. and when others read over it they may not catch as much so its good to read it out lound to your self.

Kesha D.

Anonymous said...

Kayla H. is right. I think that revision is a good writing skill that will help us to make a better paper.
-Jace Q.
P.S. I liked spelling out my last name more, but Kasey apparently has 'issues' with that. I apologize for any insult that my different idea may have caused.

Anonymous said...

Jennifer,
You have a very good point, people do need to understand what you are writing about.
Demetria T.

It is true, what Haliey said, another reason we revise is because our teachers tell us to. :)

Tiffany D.

Anonymous said...

Kasey yeah i totally agree with you because its true we don't see our mistakes like you didn't notice that you where writing perfict instead of perfect...

Thats another good point for the riview assignment!

Anonymous said...

Taylor H- You're right on the whole making it perfect for you idea. It's good to make sure that your paper gets your message across clearly.:)
Laura

i agree. because the more you go over things the easyer it will be to remeber them and use them correctly.

Allen S

Jace... I was just playing... jeeze laweez... gaaaaah

Anonymous said...

Mr B.. Yeah i agree that by going over our work will help you, but sometimes it may possibly make it worse, because the first sentences that are on your paper, are the original ideas you came up with.. So maybe they are better than the ones you rivise to? Who knows...

Taylor H

Anonymous said...

I think we have to revise everything because it could help us out to being better writters. If we were required to re-do an assignment because of one single mistake, it could help us know not to have any mistakes at all.
What we could get out of it would be knowing our assignments are perfect.
Basically I'm trying to explain what every else already has.

Kayla N.

Kasey W.
I think that you needed to revise your last blog.
-Jace Q.

Laura-
You had a good point, that revising helps you prevent yourself from making the same mistake twice, or three times, or three hundred. That would suck

Tiffany D.

Jace,
I really liked what you said about the not sounding and looking like a pheasant(it has a Ridder quality sound to it). But it is true how going back to fix or add things to our papers help us as a whole especially on how we come across as.
-Michelle O.

Anonymous said...

jace i totally agree with you. sounding like an ignorant peasent is bad. and its also good to be able to reconsider your stand on the papers you write and make them sound better.
-molly m.

I just agree with everyone.

Kayla N.

Anonymous said...

Hailey, yeah pretty much everyone has commented back to you, lol, but I agree with what you were saying. A big reason why we're doing this is so we can get a good grade cause mr. baxter is telling us to do this.
Laura

Mr. B
No it doesn't mean will improve, but going through it will give us the chance. Not revising it won't give us a chance at all.
